INTERVIEW: CRYSTAL THOMAS

We met Crystal Thomas on a stormy St Kilda night on a dark Fitzroy St corner – actually it was a sunny morning and we met at The Pelican, but I’m trying to set the tone here. We wanted to chat to her about the launch of her second album “A Chance in Hell”. This is what she told us.

Are we right in saying there were a few people involved in producing “A Chance in Hell”? First and foremost, the Iconic Melbourne-based label, Off the Hip, is releasing the album. The album is co-produced by Spencer P Jones and Matt Walker. I co-wrote most of the album with Spencer P Jones, Matt Walker and Matt Green, but we worked a lot of the songs up at rehearsal before the recording session, so the band have had input into the song structure as well as the album’s sound and feel. This recording felt like more of a band project than a solo project and there was a great team of people who have been involved.
